Hacienda Na Xamena is located in the north of Ibiza and was the first and only 5 star hotel from the late 1980s to the mid 2000s.
The property is accessible by vehicle and is is located in a remote and quiet area where you drive up to a a large estate with a a James-Bondesque parking lot with a circular drive around a fountain.
The hotel has 77 rooms and suites that range from $500-3000+ USD a night. We stayed in a double superior room which had a jacuzzi bathtub overlooking the landscape in the surrounding area and the sea which was the perfect option to watch the sunrise or sunset right from your balcony. The Double Superior Room costs an average of ($1800-2000) for 3 nights during the month of September.
Upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by a member of the guest services team who showed us around the property. Hacienda Na Xamena has a multilingual staff that is well informed about Ibiza and the surrounding area. We spoke to the staff at the reception desk who were able to give us clear directions to an isolated area of Ibiza we wanted to visit (Portixol) and printed a map to explain how to arrive and where to park our car.
The property itself has two swimming pools outdoors next to the seating area and bar service as well as an indoor pool. What surprised me most about the hotel was the game area which was fully equipped with a cinema, pool table, pingpong and foosball table which is perfect for families travelling with children. Moreover, there is a gym with yoga classes on specified dates!
Before having stayed at Hacienda Na Xamena, we saw that some reviews commented about the isolated location. I think this hotel is perfect for couples, families or solo visitors who are not just looking to drop off their bags and leave the hotel, using it only as a place to sleep. Hacienda Na Xamena is a hotel that is to be experienced! So if you are looking for a relaxing night in Ibiza or a romantic escape away from the chaos of Ibiza and its nightlife – this is the hotel for you!
Unfortunately during our stay we did not get a chance to try Eden restaurant with a menu by Fran Lopez, a Spanish chef with two Michelin Stars.
We did try the varied breakfast that is available by the pool downstairs from 8am-11:00 am every morning. The breakfast at Hacienda Na Xamena consists of numerous options which cater to an international clientele. Fruits, cheeses, cured ham and yogurt are all available alongside other options such as croissants, eggs, and cereal.
During our stay, we had the “Cascadas Suspendidas” visit included which is located downstairs at La Posidonia Spa. The Cascadas Suspendidas are a series of 8 pools heated at different temperatures with a timed hydro-massage. Guests move from one pool to another while enjoying the magnificent view of the sea! You can book a visit with lunch or dinner included on their website. The visit lasts around 45 minutes and you are provided with a bathrobe and a shot of iced tea and fruit upon your exit. The hotel staff tries to emphasize the aspect of being present, turning off your phones and relaxing!
La Posidonia Spa also offers a variety of different treatments from massages to facials such as massages and facials using SkinCeuticals products.
The upscale price of Hacienda Na Xamena is definitely worth it if you are looking to take advantage of the services the hotel has to offer! I would highly recommend booking for more than one night in order to experience the property to its full potential!
Best for: Couples, solo travellers
When to go: May-September
